UC Irvine Medical Center is rated among the nation's best hospitals by U.S. News & World Report and ranked No. 1 in Orange County, California. It is home to the county's only Level 1 trauma center, its only nationally designated comprehensive cancer center and a modern acute care hospital. The medical center also provides ambulatory, rehabilitation and mental health services, as well as the full spectrum of specialty care.
VA Long Beach Healthcare System (LBVA) is a 567-bed facility, located 12 miles west of UCIMC and 1/2 mile from the Pacific Ocean. The LBVA is a comprehensive facility, providing complete medical care for veterans. The facility includes a large Spinal Cord Injury Center (75 beds), Women's Veterans Health Clinic, Comprehensive Cancer Center, Same Day Surgery Center, and research facility.
CHOC Children's has been steadfastly committed to providing the highest quality medical care to children for more than 45 years. Affiliated with the University of California, Irvine, our regional pediatric healthcare network includes a state-of-the-art 279-bed main hospital facility in the City of Orange, and a hospital-within-a-hospital in Mission Viejo. CHOC also offers many primary and specialty care clinics, more than 100 additional programs and services, a pediatric residency program, and four centers of excellence - The CHOC Children's Heart, Neuroscience, Orthopaedic, and Hyundai Cancer Institutes.



General Information
Vacation/Educational leave with compensation shall be four (4) seven (7) day workweeks (28 days total) per postgraduate year. Postgraduate year does not always align with the academic year. Total leave time does not accrue from year to year and must be scheduled and taken in the same postgraduate year the vacation/educational leave is earned. Vacation/Educational leave shall be scheduled by mutual agreement with the program and/or department and given as leave. The Urology Department provides financial support to residents who present research projects at the American Urological Association (AUA) annual meeting or at the Western Section AUA annual meeting.
Full medical and dental insurance is provided to residents and their dependants. Life insurance is also provided to the residents.
Meals are provided when the resident is on call.
Residents are provided with professional liability coverage for all activities that are approved components of the residency program.
Our residency program and associated year of surgical internship are in compliance with all ACGME duty hour limitations. Urology residents do not take in-house calls.
